Turn your 2D sketches and renderings into fully manipulable 3D models — instantly and intuitively. With Vizcom’s 2D to 3D feature, you can convert any 2D image or rendered sketch into a 3D model with a few clicks. This opens up new ways to visualize form, explore angles, set up scenes, and export usable 3D assets for presentations, AR, or manufacturing.

When to use the 2D to 3D feature

2D to 3D turns flat designs into geometry you can inspect, refine, and use in 3D workflows. Designers, concept artists, product developers, and teams benefit from this feature when they need:

This feature is available to all Vizcom users directly within the 2D Studio environment.

How to use 2D to 3D

How to Convert a 2D Image into a 3D Model

  1. Prepare a rendered image on your canvas.
Make sure your sketch or rendering is visible and selected.

  2. Activate 3D generation.
Click the Generate 3D icon, available in the toolbar or in the layers panel.
Choose between Standard or Detailed quality settings.

  3. Generate the 3D model.
Vizcom will separate the main object from the background and create a new 3D model layer.

  4. View and adjust the model.

    • Select the new 3D layer.
    • Use bounding box controls to scale the model.
    • Use orbit controls to inspect from any angle.
    • Adjust focal length with the slider.
  5. Set up multiple views.
Duplicate the 3D layer and arrange different perspectives on your canvas for rendering scenes.

  6. Render or refine.
Use the Describe function at the prompt to generate styled 3D renderings or narrative visuals from your model.

Exporting your 3D Model

Once generated, you can export the 3D model in formats suitable for various workflows:

Tips & FAQ

Start with a fully rendered 2D image for the best initial 3D geometry — the clearer the silhouette and shading, the more accurate the generated model.

Use multiple views of the same object to improve 3D generation precision.
